ORIGIN AND HISTORY

Rachel originates from the Hebrew racket, meaning ewe. Rachel was the younger of two wives of Jacob and the mother of Joseph and Benjamin. Jacob was forced to "win" Rachel through fourteen years of hardship, as well as first marrying her sister, Leah, before Laban would let Jacob marry Rachel. Rachel is one of the four Hebrew matriarchs charged with ruling over a special province of Heaven.
