ORIGIN AND HISTORY
Naomi is a biblical name with Hebrew origins that literally translates as “pleasantness.” Additionally, Naomi comes from "Na'omi for "my delight" and from "no'am" for "pleasantness, delightfulness" and from stem of "na'em" for "was pleasant, was lovely." In the Bible, Naomi was the wise mother-in-law of Ruth. Although at one time considered to be mostly Jewish and used largely by Jewish families, but after the Reformation, it became more popular among the Puritans and came more into more general use.[1] [1] [1]
