ORIGIN AND HISTORY
Johann, sometimes spelled Johan, is derived from the the Scandinavian and Low German form of John. "It is also used as a more learned Czech form of the name, a doublet of Jan." [1] Johann spelled as Johannes is the Latin form of the Hebrew “The Lord Has Favored,” “Gift of God,” or “God is Good.” It also has origins from and to John. [1]
