ORIGIN AND HISTORY
The name Jesus (Gr. Iesous[1]) comes from the Hebrew name Jehoshua or Yehoshua[1], the same root as the name Joshua.[1]
Jesus is arguably one of the most popular names in history. Since attributed to the name of the Christian prophet and leader of Christianity, Jesus has been established as holy and reverential to many. In the religious sense, Jesus is regularly affiliated with the place he is believed to originated from and preached -- Jesus of Nazareth. Such geographical appendages are not uncommon. Jesus is also known as Jesus Christ and Christ Jesus.

FACTS
The First Century prophet Jesus (Jesus Christ) was believed by those sharing in the Christian faith to be the son of God. His second name Christ is the etymological root of Christianity. Born of Mary through "immaculate conception," Jesus was born in Nazareth in order to address the sins of mankind. His preachings and following had significant impact to this day, and his birth is set at the date by which current Gregorian calendars are based. (B.C. for "Before Christ" and A.D. for "Anno Domini" or "in the year of our Lord.")
