The name Jason is of Greek origin (Iason), and probably comes from the Greek word iasthai, which means ‘to heal’. In Greek legend, the name Jason can be found in the legend of Jason and the Argonauts; Jason was the lead warrior in the group.

The name Jason also appears in the Bible as the man who is a host to St. Paul, although it is perhaps a variant of the name Joshua.

Jason assembled a group of warriors called the Argonauts and they sailed on a ship called the Argo to many different islands. They were warriors and they were also off doing good deeds, like repopulating an island that purportedly only had women living on it any more. All these good deeds, as well as the heroic journey they made, left the group (and Jason at the helm of it) as legends in Greek culture.

The story has been made into a few movies, video games, plays and even songs. Jason is also a famous cartoon character who turned into the character Robin; the character was immortalized as Robin, Batman’s sidekick.
