ORIGIN AND HISTORY

The name Issac derives from the Hebrew “yitshaq” meaning “laughter,” which stemmed from “Yitzchak” meaning “he will laugh.”

In the Bible, Isaac, was the son of Abraham and patriarch of the Hebrews. He was married to Rebekah, with whom he fathered Esau and Jacob. Isaac’s mother Sarah chose the name because it was believed she could no longer bear children and she laughed when messengers of God informed her she would give birth.

Isaac was considered an angel of light over whom death had no power.
