CONDUCTING RESEARCH
Here are some questions that may help guide your research:
ORIGIN & HISTORY: When and where did the name first appear? Is the name affiliated with a religion?
POPULARITY: Has the name experienced surges in popularity? A sudden decline? Any idea why?
FACTS: Add any unusual or interesting tidbits you can find - associations with pop culture, etc.
NAMESAKES: What else has the name? Any significant places, cuisine, movies or books?
FAMOUS PERSONS: Who else has the name? Include the full name, occupation and birth date of significant persons.

REFERENCES
As you are writing an article, we ask that you please reference any content that merits a reference. This is particularly important when you're adding opinions or information that could be questioned. For additional information, please see References
To add a footnote, simply click the reference button on the right hand side of the tool bar. You will see the following notation:
<ref> "enter citation" </ref>
At the end of the page, you'll see:
===NOTES=== <references/>
Which is where your references will display automatically.
CREATE AN AUTHOR PAGE
Towards the bottom of the page, as indicated, write:
~~~
Once you save the page, you'll see your name; you can click on your name to create a page. Add the articles you write on this page as well as the category "Authors." The formatting is as follows:
Articles: [[Name]], [[Name]], etc. [[Category: Authors]]
You may also add whatever biographical information you'd like to the page to promote your work, tell us funky facts about your name -- whatever interests you.
EDITING TIPS
BULLET POINTS
If you are entering lists in the section for FACTS, NAMESAKES or FAMOUS PERSONS, use the following formatting:
*fabulous tidbit number one *excellent tidbit number two *crazy tidbit number three
And you will see bullet points, eg:
- it
- looks
- prettier
RANDOM GOODNESS
The best way to learn wiki formatting is by looking at other pages. You can go to any page on the wiki and click on "Edit" to see the source. Copy what you see there and you can magically recreate the same look.
If you want to earn extra kudos, interlink your pages with other names. For example, on the page John, you write John [[Smith]] which will translate to John Smith.
Also, we love it when you link to other sites with relevant information -- especially non-profits and educational sites. For example, if you want to link to good.name.com, you write [http://www.good.name.com good.name.com] and you see: good.name.com
If you want some more tips, check out the Wikipedia Sheet.
