ORIGIN AND HISTORY
Helen is Greek in origin.
Helen of Sparta, also know as Helen of Troy, was the daughter of Zeus and Leda in Greek mythology. Aphrodite offers Helen as a bribe to a mortal named Paris, the Prince of Troy. Helen was already married to King Menelaus, and the pairing of Helen and Paris caused the Trojan War, which lasted over ten years. These events took place in the 11th Century BC, also known as the Mycenaean Age.[1]
