What About the Name?
The origin of the name 'Dr Pepper' is unknown. The museum espouses over twelve possible theories.[1]
One popular legend goes as follows: a pharmacist name Wade Morrison in Rural Retreat, Virginia, invented the soda in 1885. Wade worked in a drug store for Dr. Pepper, and was in love with the man's beautiful daughter. Hoping for her hand in marriage, he named the cocktail of fruity flavors "Dr. Pepper." He was fired. Wade cut his losses and moved to Waco, Texas where his new soda drink became popular.[1]
