FACTS

  • Perhaps the most influential Calvin in history was John Calvin, a theologian who lived from 1509 to 1564. He was a French Protestant during what was known as the Protestant Reformation. As such a pivotal and influential figure in this reformation, his version of Christian theology was called Calvinism. His Institutes of the Christian Religion was a critical part of this change and his influence. Calvinism emphasizes “God over all things” and was critical in the development of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches (WARC), now a fellowship of more than 200 churches in 107 countries with 75 million members. [1]
  • Calvin and Hobbes was one of the most popular and widely distributed comic features in the world. Syndicated daily from November 18, 1985 to December 31, 1995, Calvin and Hobbes was carried by over 2,400 newspapers. More than 30 million copies of the 18 Calvin and Hobbes books have been printed.
