Autumn, also known as "fall" in North America, is one of the four seasons. Autumn marks the transition from summer to winter, usually beginning in September in the northern hemisphere and March in the southern hemisphere. On the North American calendar, Autumn begins on September 21 and ends on December 20, while on the Irish calendar it begins August 1 and ends October 31.[1] The name Autumn is derived from the word for the season itself.
