• John Aubrey, born in 1926, was an English antiquary and writer, best known as the author of the collection of short biographical pieces and as the discoverer of the Aubrey holes in Stonehenge. He wrote on many subjects, but rarely finished anything. However, his work was appreciated by his circle of intellectual friends, including John Locke and Isaac Newton.^[1]

• The 56 Aubrey holes lie in a circle around the monument, each roughly evenly spaced out. This is probably the most ingenious part of Stonehenge. Twenty-five of the pits contained cremation burials. Their presence makes Stonehenge Britain's oldest cremation cemetery.

• Aubrey Beardsley was born on 21 August, 1872, in Brighton, England. Beardsley's fame was established for all time when the first volume The Yellow Book appeared in April 1894. This famous quarterly of art and literature brought the artist's work to a larger public.^[1]
