ORIGIN AND HISTORY
With the root name Angel, Angelina ("little angel") is from the medieval Latin masculine name Angelus which was derived from the name of the winged heavenly creatures. Angel itself is derived from the Greek word angelos meaning "messenger." In much of the English-speaking world it is often used as a feminine name although some Latino cultures bestow it upon boys. A name in its own right, it is sometimes considered a pet form of Angel or Angela.[1]
