There are several variations of Hebrew translations that can describe the origin of Adam. Although it is the Hebrew word for "man," one variation of Adam can mean "to be red" -- referring to the ruddy color of human skin. The Assyrian adamu means "to make." According to the Old Testament bible in Genesis, in Adam was created from the earth by God with an additional version of the word 'adamah meaning "earth.” [1]
